Healthcare sector is seeing a rapid growth and it’s evolving faster than we imagined. The health systems and insurance companies have decided that they can no longer wait for the slow decline and jumped on the technology bandwagon. They have started using the great technology that is at their disposal and helping their staff spend less time doing manual labour. As mergers and acquisitions are heating up, 2018 is going to be an exciting year for healthcare technology. But what are the top healthcare technologies of 2018? Let’s have a look.
Final Frontier Medical Devices was awarded $2.5M from Qualcomm to continue improving their device and bring it to market last year. This means we will see more of its technological advancement in 2018. Final Frontier Medical Devices took home the 1st place for their artificial intelligence-based engine, DxtER, that learns to diagnose medical conditions by integrating learning from clinical emergency medicine with data analysis from actual patients.
Breast Cancer Drug – Abemaciclib
All set to hit the market soon, Eli Lilly’s breast cancer drug Abemaciclib belongs to CDK4/6 inhibitors which have been shown to have the most positive effect on metastatic breast cancer, specifically in HER2+ breast cancers. The clinical researches have put it on par with its already existing competitors – Pfizer’s Ibrance and Novartis’ Kisqali. Abemaciclib sales are estimated to be USD 1,792 million in 2022.
As we see, these changes are either taking place in the healthcare domain or fast gaining momentum. We are slowly and steadily moving towards an advanced technological healthcare space.
