Vikram Hospital gears up to register lower patient footfall after surgery with home post-operative care

Vikram Hospital, Bengaluru, has now unveiled a new initiative that takes post-surgical care to the patients’ homes. This post surgical home care service will provide specialist support and medical attention to patients seeking lesser number of hospital visits, without compromising on the quality. The service is offered free of cost.

The home service is expected to reduce the number of visits a vikrampatient has to undertake post surgery and help in their speedy recovery. Under the service, Vikram Hospital will provide a broad category of services like checking on vitals, suture removal, change of dressing, blood sugar monitoring, updating the status and progress of the patient to the consultant, etc. to name a few.

The Hospital has already completed 500 home visits as part of a pilot project and has received excellent response from patients. Currently, it has one dedicated van and three staff for home care service which is available from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5pm.

The service was launched by Sampath Kumar, corporator, Vasanth Nagar Constituency, Bengaluru Along With Sudhir Pai, executive director and CEO, Vikram Hospital.

“Undergoing a surgery is not an easy task. Not to mention that such situations not only have a direct impact on the patient but their families as well who are responsible for the wellbeing and care of the patient after the procedure. Moreover, the timeline for recovery of every patient that undergoes a surgical procedure varies and a person might take longer than usual time to heal completely, said Sudhir Pai, executive director and chief executive officer, Vikram Hospital.

A team of trained staff, will ensure hospital visits are avoided which is an inconvenience to the patient who is still recuperating, he added.

Lauding the hospital efforts to offer home care to patients, Sampath Kumar said that the service is a noble initiative that will help patients achieve speedy recovery with the same quality care and treatment at no added cost.
